Numeracy: Building Integer Fluency
Computational fluency with integers is key to success in algebra. This well-designed sequence of high-interest games motivates students to reach for mastery. Ranging from simple to challenging, the games provide an indispensable resource for grades 3 and up. It begins with Make Ten in which even third graders can make the sum of 10 with two positive integers. After a progression of new learning, students are ready to play All-Ops where they combine three tiles to result in positive multiples of 10 using any combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. These games are to integers what Scrabble® is to words!
